Pastel & charcoal drawing on paper.
I'm not sure where I saw the original inspiration for this, so I unfortunately can't credit but would be really happy to if I knew.

This might as well have been a photograph ^^ It is so realistic since the light in the hair gives the sensation of real hair texture. Good glow in the eye, it adds the wetness eyes got making it look even more real.
She is covering her face but she doesn't look too sad, it makes me wonder why she would hide her face in first place since the look in her eye is very curious about what she is looking at.

Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it. I can't remember where the original photo came from, I've searched but can't find, the credit really goes to the photographer, as the photo & lighting was perfect, the model & the composition were both really beautiful...
I have only recently started experimenting using pastels & charcoal...this drawing is quite large & made a really big, dusty mess from one end of my studio to the other (I have a computer in there as well which got caked in dust) kind of turned me off using that medium, but I love how easy it is to shade etc with them, rather than painting, which I get frustrated with when I cant get the effect I want, I'm self taught & need to learn more about technique & application etc. :)

Charcoal and pencils are my favourite mediums =) Like you said they are so easy to shade with and building up a good composition rather than a painting. I too am also self taught but i do need to practice on other mediums aswell like paintings and such, it is good with variation and i need to master all mediums so that i can become an all-round artist.

I'm sure you will do well at Uni, good luck.
